The 2023 Honda Pilot has been entirely redesigned and re-engineered for the 2023 model year as the fourth generation of Honda’s popular midsize SUV. It has grown in size, packs more technological features, and improved safety kit across the range. There's also an off-road-oriented TrailSport variant that comes with some optimizations for tackling the rough. The 2023 Pilot comes with some useful interior enhancements as well, including an option for second-row captain chairs.
Five trims are on offer for the 2023 Honda Pilot. These are:
While the base Sport trim offers a comprehensive feature set for a competitive price, those seeking to do some mild off-roading will definitely pick the TrailSport. At the top end, the Elite offers the ultimate comfort and luxury features.

The 2023 Honda Pilot offers an interior that’s more spacious and comfortable than the previous generation. It can seat up to eight people, or you can option a captain's chairs option for the second row that reduces the capacity to seven. The 2023 Pilot offers 18.6 cubic feet of cargo space with all three rows up, rising to 48.6 cubic feet with the third row folded. Tri-zone climate control is standard, as is up to 14 cupholders, a lockable glovebox, and ample storage spaces.
Base models come with a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system, which becomes a 9-inch unit on higher trims. The base audio system is a seven-speaker system, while a nine-speaker system and Bose 12-speaker system are upgrade options. There’s also a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster available on the highest trim.
For 2023, the Pilot has received a full exterior makeover with a clean and fresh design. It has grown marginally over the third-generation model, with a longer wheelbase and wider track. At the front, Honda’s latest hexagon mesh grille is flanked by narrow-eyed LED headlamps. A purposeful side profile and LED taillamps on the rear tailgate complete its outlook. Honda offers a range of alloy wheel designs to choose from, ranging up to 20 inches.
Eight colors are on offer for the 2023 Pilot. Some colors may be extra cost options and only offered across specific trim levels.
The 2023 Pilot comes with just one choice of engine and transmission. A 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 is installed up front. It develops 285 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel-drive is standard on the 2023 Pilot, but Honda’s i-VTM4 all-wheel-drive system can be specified. There’s also a drive mode selector that offers up to seven driving modes, depending on trim level and specification.
The off-road-oriented TrailSport specification brings 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, an extra inch of ground clearance, steel skid plates, extra recovery points, hill descent control, and a tweaked all-wheel-drive system.
Front-wheel-drive variants of the 2023 Pilot can tow up to 3,500 pounds, while all-wheel-drive variants can handle up to 5,000 pounds.
